Velo is proud to announce the commissioning of our latest addition to the GreenPowerEMC portfolio of projects. Our 3.9MW solar farm in Douglasville, GA feeds into the portfolio of renewable projects which provide the EMC’s of Georgia with clean solar power to offer their customers.

Turnipseed Solar Farm is one of three sister projects delivered by Velo for this program in 2017. Velo is happy to contribute to the shift towards clean, sustainable distributed generation throughout our home state.

This site presented a unique challenge in it’s topography. Our engineers had to work with a number of specialists to grade and build out the site with up to 10 degree slopes. The remaining property surrounding the site was donated into conservation and is being turned into public land for a possible bike trail and park development.

  1. Grade and clear up to 10 degree slope
  2. Commission before December, 2017
  3. Conserve remaining property and donate to local municipality for park development

Through our Cox Conserves program, Cox Enterprises has an aggressive, but attainable goal to become carbon neutral by 2044. Technology will play a huge role in us reaching this important milestone. Empower’s Energy Dashboard helps our site managers take action when it’s needed to deliver on our environmental commitment and helps employees see the beneficial effects of our renewable assets.
